Perdition

In this piteous obsession with salvation

We have forgotten what it means to be redeemed

To confess acts, thoughts, deeds

Confess!

Not exalt or excuse

The lot of us blasphemers

Yet, in dying moments colored by the fear of a possible god

We claim contrition falsely

If you will live in sin, then die in sin

If you live goodly then die so

Reaping whatever reward is to be had

Whatever your choice, for whichever your reason- live honestly

There is no greater disgrace to a life lived than its rejection in death

Lip service death bed apologies a most vulgar expulsion of one’s final breath
