Mr. Mercury

Mr. Mercury’s vain
Mr. Mercury’s mad
Mr. Mercury’s in the darkness hiding under your bed
Mr. Mercury listens to your prayers at night
Mr. Mercury loves when your fears burn bright
Never check the closet or the corners too close
Mr. Mercury’s more than a fading ghost
He has fingers that grab and teeth that bite
He is hunger and anger and eyes blacker than night
Mr. Mercury sings in your ears as you sleep
Coaxing you softly to places so deep
Darker and older than first lullaby
It’s Mr. Mercurys’ lips that kiss you goodbye
